Games that use cross-platform require multi-players and sometimes require a single server or sometimes a private servers that function on multi consoles- games like Phantasy Star Online, Dreamcast , Macintosh and GamesCube players share one server.
Real-time strategy games
During 1990s certain software were developed that would allow players to tunnel the LAN protocols used by computer games over the internet. And so, real time strategy games became online games; allowing players all over the globe to play with each other. Services were structured as to afford one player to be matched against another player wishing to play online. Lobbies were also formed where people can meet in so called game rooms. A good example is MSN Gaming Zone; online game communities formed by active players for games like Age of Empires and Microsoft Arts.
Action Games
This game is a video game genre that is structured to foster physical challenges like speed, dexterity and reaction time. It can also incorporate other challenges such as races, puzzles or collecting objects. Genres like fighting games, first person shooters, beat’em ups, and platforms computer games are incorporated into action games. It basically features violent physical force especially shooting or combat as their major interactive feature.
Game Theme
The major objective of action games changes from game to game; however the central theme hinges on advancing through stages, eliminating hordes of enemies and solving problems. This game is normally designed to have a single or sometimes more Bosses. There is always a protagonist (good boss) and an antagonist (a bad boss). And of course; the climax reveals that the good boss defeats the bad one.
Bosses are structured or programmed with simple pattern of movement or attacks that players have to learn through trail and error. To defeat theses Bosses the player must use a pattern of recognition of skill, speed and physical reaction speed. The simple patterns include combo moves which players need to jump, dodge or block an attack and then strike at certain points to deal damage to defeat the opponent
